ASI Audits

ASI Audits

ASI Has developed an independent third-party certification program to ensure sustainability and human rights principles are increasingly embedded in aluminum production, use and recycling. ASI’s Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard are designed to link responsible production with responsible sourcing, and thus support an increased emphasis on sustainability in procurement practices. The ASI Performance and Chain of Custody Standards have been developed and designed to be globally applied, and throughout the aluminum value chain to:

  • enable the aluminum industry to demonstrate responsibility and provide independent and credible assurance of performance;
  • reinforce and promote consumer and stakeholder confidence in aluminum products;
  • reduce reputational risks concerning aluminum and aluminum industry players; and
  • address the expressed needs by downstream industrial users and consumers for responsible sourcing of aluminum.

ASI’s standards are applicable to all stages of aluminum production and transformation, specifically: bauxite mining, alumina refining, primary aluminium production, semi-fabrication (rolling, extrusion, forging and foundry), material conversion, and refining and re-melting of recycled scrap, as well as material stewardship criteria relevant to downstream users of aluminium.

Recently, International Associates have been accredited by Aluminium Stewardship Initiative and have ASi approved Lead Auditors. ASi accredited auditing firms are responsible for conducting independent, third party audits to certify members against the ASI standards which covers ASI Performance Standard and ASI Chain of Custody Standard. For organisations from every part of the aluminium supply chain, and from civil society groups, associations, and other supporting organisations who want to be certified and be a Member can email us at aluminium. enquiry@ia-uk.com.
